The National Academy of Medicine (NAM), formerly known as the Institute of Medicine, states that children up to the age of 12 may benefit from consuming seafood, especially those with relatively higher concentrations of EPA and DHA. They advise that age-appropriate servings should be consumed, but that large predatory fish such as tuna should be avoided.
